Come test your knowledge of managing sponsored funding for a chance to win a USB drive. As you answer questions correctly, you will be given Hershey Kisses to track your points (they will not be taken away for incorrect answers). The person at the end of the game with the most Hershey Kisses will win a USB drive! The game will begin TODAY at 2 p.m. in SC 1001. Bring your colleagues to see who can win! The more players there are, the more fun the game will be! If you have any questions please contact Carol Mitton, extension 5546 or cmitton@uno.edu. Hope to see you there!

On Wednesday March 3rd, the Office of Research will be holding a training session on the new SharePoint Routing Form.  The session will be held in ENG 317 at 10 a.m.  The training will last an hour.  If you have already completed the form but have questions, this training is a good opportunity to ask those questions or to just obtain more information on the form.  If you have not completed the form but plan on it, the training is a good time to check out the new electronic form.  A USB drive will be given to one of the attendees at the end of the training.

If you plan on attending, please register by following this link:  Professional Development Registrations - New Item.  Click New on the menu bar to add a new item.  Complete the requested information and click OK.  You will receive a confirmation email.  If you have any questions, please contact Carol Mitton at extension 5546 or cmitton@uno.edu.

Tomorrow, February 7th, at 10 am in KH 219 the Office of Research is conducting Part I of the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training; Part II will be held on Thursday February 9th at 10 am in KH 219. Attendance at both sessions is required to receive credit for completing this portion of the RCR training. Anyone receiving funding from the National Science Foundation or Department of Health and Human Services, including National Institutes of Health, must complete this training; all others are encouraged to complete the training. Please note, this training can be done on-line if desired (link: RCR Training. Select new, enter the requested information and then begin the training).

The Office of Research and Economic Development will be showing a 7-part live webinar lecture series on Research Commercialization offered by the Research Commercialization and SBIR Center. As defined on the lecture announcement, “research commercialization involves taking articles, documentation, know-how, patents, and copyrights, which are created during research activities and getting them to users and patients for real societal impacts”. On Monday March 26th, at 10:30 in GP 2025 we are conducting a one hour ethics discussion session led by Dr. Robert Laird from the Psychology Department. This training is required as part of UNO’s Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training. RCR training is required for all individuals (faculty, staff and students) who receive a salary or a stipend from the National Science Foundation or U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (which includes the National Institutes of Health); the funds can either be directly from these entities or indirectly through a state or private entity.

If you have already attended one of these sessions or watched the DVD “The Lab,” you do not need to attend but you are welcome to attend if you desire. Space is limited so you must register. If you have students working with you that must complete the RCR training, make sure they are aware of this requirement. If you anticipate receiving funds, please attend. The session is open to everyone even if you do not receive funds from the entities listed above.

To register, please follow this link: Professional Development Registrations. (Navigation in SharePoint is: Research, Professional Development, Professional Development Registrations.)

You will need to add a new item – click New on the menu bar and then New Item. Fill in the requested information and click OK. You will receive an email stating that your registration is in process. Once approved or rejected (if the session is full) you will receive another email.

If you have any questions, please contact Carol Mitton at extension 5546 or cmitton@uno.edu.
