This page will be of interest to your membership and we would appreciate your sharing this link as soon as possible. This page will continue to be updated as new information becomes available.
Policy-related questions regarding resumption of operations at NSF may be addressed to policy@nsf.gov.
The university’s transition to Workday has prompted the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs to restructure our pre-award and post-award staff members into teams managing specific academic and non-academic units. This new method of serving the scholars and researchers at the University of New Orleans should streamline communications about grants, contracts, and sponsored programs throughout the application and award process.
Beginning in January, our team will begin transitioning to the team structure below.
Pre-Award
• Rebecca Drake will serve the College of Science.
• Kendy Martinez will serve all other academic and non-academic units.
• Burt Neal will manage all sub-awards and internal award programs.
Post-Award
• Charles Chaisson will serve the College of Engineering, the Department of Computer Science, and all other non-academic units.
• Bing Leng will serve the College of Science, except for the Department of Computer Science.
• Jesse Sherrell will serve the College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Human Development.
You may review these updates on the ORSP Directory, which also lists the remaining staff members and how they might best serve you.
NIH (including help desks) will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2019, for the federal holiday (Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.).
If a grant application due date falls on a federal holiday, the application deadline is automatically extended to the next business day.
We would like to remind the extramural research community that both the NIH and Grants.gov remain operational during the current partial federal government shutdown. https://nexus.od.nih.gov/all/2019/01/07/nih-operational-during-partial-federal-government-shutdown/
Impact on Existing Deadlines
During a lapse in appropriations, NSF will continue to accept proposal submissions pursuant to existing deadlines.
Issuance of New Grants and Cooperative Agreements
No new grants or cooperative agreements will be awarded.
Issuance of Continuing Grant Increments (CGIs)
No new CGIs will be awarded.
No-Cost Extensions
FastLane will be available to submit both grantee-approved and NSF-approved no cost extensions (NCEs).
Grantee-approved NCEs do not require NSF approval; therefore, assuming all business rule checks have passed, the NCE would be processed automatically and the award date would be extended.
NSF-approved NCEs will not be processed until normal operations resume. Awardees, therefore, are cautioned that Federal funds cannot be obligated for expenses that occur beyond the award end date.
