The EPSCoR Travel Grants for Emerging Faculty (TGEF) Program through the Louisiana Board of Regents provides funds to tenure-track (not tenured) faculty in science or engineering for travel to funding agencies to visit with program managers or to give major, invited presentations.  Faculty in the following disciplines can apply:

  • Biological sciences (all)
  • Mathematical & computer sciences
  •  Earth & environmental sciences (Geology, Oceanography, Environmental)
  • Engineering (all)
  •  Physical sciences (Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Social & behavioral sciences

Speaking with a program officer can provide insight on the proposal structure, the peer review process, and the focus of the agency; this can make your proposal more competitive.  An opportunity to make a presentation can make you more known in your field and open other doors for your career.  TGEF funding can pay for most or all of the expenses related to these trips which is important with the cuts in general fund budgets.

The awards are limited to $1,200 for travel expenses and the expenses must follow state travel guidelines.  Up to  $1,200 can also be obtained for the travel expense of a mentor that accompanies the faculty on the trip.

For more information on the program and the application process, please refer to the attached Request for Application.  The overall deadline for applications is June 30, 2015.  However, your application must be submitted at least 30 days prior to your proposed trip.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at 280-6836 or send an email to stateORSP@uno.edu.
