BP Funding Webinar
By Admin (on 12/2/2010 @ 15:48:37, in Oil Spill, read 1664 times)

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) has reserved room 438 in the CERM building for the webinar detailed below on BP funding on December 9, 2010. Individuals may register and watch on their own computer, or can attend the webinar in the conference room we have reserved. If you would like to attend the webinar with ORSP please r.s.v.p. at orsp@uno.edu so we can ensure the room is large enough to accommodate everyone.

On December 9, 2010, a workshop on the "EPA Office of Research and Development's Grant Process: How It Works and How Best to Compete" will be held at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. This workshop will be available via web and representatives of the National Science Foundation and the British Petroleum (BP) Corporation will also participate in this event.  This workshop will be similar to the workshop held at Dillard University on October 28, 2010.

This workshop is being offered to share with you oil spill-related research needs resulting from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  Responding to this unprecedented disaster has revealed numerous research needs in the areas of oil spill response, remediation, and restoration.  The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Science Foundation will be independently soliciting research grant applications in the near future from eligible organizations, universities, and colleges located in the Gulf Coast Region to conduct much needed research that addresses the many gaps that have become apparent in dealing with the oil spill.  BP will also be soliciting research proposals for research projects under its own competitive process.

In addition to describing oil spill-related research needs, the workshop will include presentations on the grant competition process and the time lines for soliciting applications and awarding the grants.  Time will also be allotted to respond to questions and discussing topics of interest to potential applicants.
Included please find the formal invitation with more information from Mr. Christopher Zarba, Deputy Center Director for EPA's National Center for Environmental Research, and a draft agenda.  Please also go to  http://www.scgcorp.com/Reg4_grantwkshp/index.htm.
