Navy Job Fair for Recent Graduates

Solicitation of Applicants for Positions in Science, Engineering, and Computer Science Positions

Salary Range: $33,394 to $81,400 Per Annum

Job Location: Stennis Space Center, MS

About the Job: The Department of Navy is currently soliciting applications from recent graduates from the states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Successful candidates will be employed by either the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO), Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC), or Fleet Survey Team (FST) stationed at Stennis Space Center, MS. NAVOCEANO is the Navyís premier center for operational oceanography. FNMOC provides the highest quality, most relevant and timely worldwide meteorology and oceanography support to the U.S. and coalition forces. FST conducts hydrographic surveys and related environmental assessments to enable safe and effective maritime navigation and access to the littoral for Naval and Joint Forces.

Recent Graduates: This program is designed to recruit and attract exceptional individuals for professional and scientific positions. In general, individuals are appointed directly to permanent, competitive service, career-conditional appointments. A recent graduate is defined as an individual who has graduated with a bachelorís or graduate degree from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two years. The two-year period of eligibility will be extended to four years for veterans who have completed a period of obligated uniformed service of more than four years and were awarded a degree not more than four years before the date of appointment.

General and Career Information: Starting salaries are commensurate with education and experience, plus full benefits. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Males born after December 31, 1959 are required to be registered with the Selective Service System. All positions are subject to satisfactory completion of a security investigation, successful completion of a pre-employment physical, and/or drug test.

Basic Requirements: Appointments will be made at the GS-05, GS-07, or GS-09 level and have a full performance level of GS-11. Opportunities are available for graduates with BS, MS or PhD degrees in the following fields:

Physical Scientist, Oceanographer, Physicist, Geophysicist, Computer Scientist, Engineering
