AASCU Meeting - NIH - Post 2
By Dr. Whittenburg (on 8/21/2012 @ 09:37:35, in Vice President Ramblings, read 607 times)
NIH presented a lot of data regarding the demographics of who is receiving NIH awards and who is being supported. The data show an aging "workforce". The age at which a PI gets the first NIH award is in the middle to late 30's and the average age of NIH funded PIs is quite old. Finally, NIH is restructuring a few including NCATS which unifies several therapeutic agencies and the Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP).
