Department of Defense Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program Funding Opportunity for Fiscal Year 2011 The Department of Defense (DOD) Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program's (PRCRP) vision is to improve quality of life by decreasing the impact of cancer on service members, their families, and the American public. This program is administered by the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). Fiscal Year 2011 (FY11) Defense Appropriation Act provides for $16 million to the DOD PRCRP to research cancers not addressed in breast, prostate, lung (excluding mesothelioma), and ovarian cancer research programs currently executed and managed by the Office of the CDMRP. The funds provided are directed to be used to conduct research for the following topic areas: Blood Cancers, Colorectal Cancer, Genetic Cancer Research, Kidney Cancer, Listeria Vaccine for Cancer, Melanoma and Other Skin Cancers, Mesothelioma, Pancreatic Cancer, Pediatric Cancers, Radiation Protection Utilizing Nanotechnology Visionary Postdoctoral fellowship Awards of $240,000 for direct costs *Research must be in one or more of the FY11 PRCRP Topic Areas *Supports postdoctoral fellows training in the laboratory of early career investigators (mentor) with expertise in one or more of the FY11 PRCRP Topic Areas *Supports postdoctoral training to include a budget option for research supplies *Applications must not address breast, prostate, lung (excluding Mesothelioma), and ovarian cancer research *Preliminary data not required *Clinical trials will not be supported All applications must conform to the program announcement and general application instructions that are available for electronic downloading from the Grants.gov website. The application package containing the required forms for this award mechanism will also be found on Grants.gov. A pre-application is required and must be submitted through the CDMRP eReceipt website (https://cdmrp.org) prior to August 10, 2011. A listing of all USAMRMC funding opportunities can be obtained on the Grants.gov website by performing a basic search using CFDA Number 12.420. Applications must be submitted through the federal government's single-entry portal, Grants.gov.
